Questions To Ask A Personal Injury Lawyer During Your Consultation

By Philip Franckel Q: Is this consultation given without charge to me? About Your Rights: Q: What rights do I have that need to be protected? Q: Who will pay my medical bills; physical therapy bills; drug bills; transportation expenses; temporary or permanent household help; lost income; property damage; and pain and suffering? Q: What do I have to do to protect my rights to these claims? What forms and papers do I need to obtain? Where do I get these forms? Will you fill out all the forms for me? If needed, will you help me with my medical claim? If needed, will you help me with my property damage claim? Q: What claim letters need to be sent; how many insurance companies must be notified? Will you do this for me? How can you determine whether you want to hire a specific lawyer? You may feel nervous when hiring a lawyer, but remember that you are the one doing the hiring. While lawyers who primarily represent people in accidents charge a contingency fee (a fee that is charged at the end of the case and only if you are successful) you will still want to know that you are satisfied with your choice. Even though you pay a fee after you receive a money award, you are the one paying the bill. Serious injuries can result in significant compensation for both you and your lawyer. That makes you an important client! Q: If I have a question about my case, will I be able to speak with you directly or do I have to speak to a paralegal? Is it okay if I speak with you occasionally when I have a question or to find out the status of my case? Q: How long have you and your law firm been practicing law? Q: Do you practice primarily in the field of Personal Injury and accidents? Q: Do you have professional liability insurance? (Professional liability insurance also protects you, the accident victim, in case an error is made that damages your case.) Q: When will I be charged? (Personal injury lawyers usually charge a contingency fee. A contingency fee is one that is charged at the end of the case and only if you are successful. This allows anyone who has been hurt in an accident to have easy access to a lawyer.) Q: How much will I be charged? Q: Will I be charged a legal fee if you do not recover money for me? Q: Am I responsible for case expenses if you do not recover money for me? Q: What are my alternatives to resolve my claim? Do you ever utilize mediation and arbitration? Q: Have you or your law firm done any trials? Q: (If married) Is my spouse entitled to any of the settlement or money awarded? What happens if I get divorced? Q: (If a child is injured) Which parent will bring the claim? What happens to the settlement money? Philip L. Working a Room with Comfort

By Jennifer Jordan We all dread it: being at a party and knowing hardly anyone. As friends gather around in cliques, talking about what’s been going on with their children or how their new workout routine is doing wonders for their love handles, you find yourself asking the wall if it would like to go out and get plastered. Knowing no one can be extremely intimidating. It’s enough to make you want to crawl under the nearest couch, and hide away from loneliness. This kind of atmosphere is one laden with discomfort, making you long to get a root canal instead of attend a party; at least you’d know people in your dentist office. While a party like this is uncomfortable, there are ways to make it more welcoming. With a few tips you can work a room and have a good time, talking to people besides yourself. Make Eye Contact and Smile Eye contact and a smile can speak volumes. As far as nonverbal communication is concerned, these actions are the loudest. Eye contact demonstrates respect and is often the starting point of any kind of communication; it’s hard to talk to someone who you aren’t looking at. A smile shows a person that you are non-threatening, welcoming them to initiate conversation with you, or paving the way for you to initiate it with them. Compliment Someone Everyone likes to receive compliments, as long as they are genuine. If you see someone wearing a pair of shoes you love, go ahead and tell them. That will not only propel you into their good graces, but it will also allow a conversation to be initiated. From something as simple as telling a person you like their shoes, you open up the ability to discuss where those shoes were purchased, which could ultimately lead to a lengthy conversation about fashion and shopping in general. Read up on Current Events The news may seem like a boring show, and many people may long for the day when its canceled and replaced by a less depressing sitcom, but the news is full of conversation starters. Before attending a party, take some time to watch the news or read up on the current events. Possessing knowledge of what is presently going on in the world arms you with topics to discuss. You can ask a person at the party what they think of the latest Hollywood scandal, or you can state that you were surprised about how odd the weather has been in the northeast. This will almost always lead to further conversation. Ask Questions Whenever you are struggling to make conversation with a stranger, just ask questions. Showing interest in someone else makes that person interested in you. From asking someone where they grew up to inquiring where they met their spouse, conversing with a stranger provides opportunity for innumerable questions to be asked. But, be careful that your questions dont get too personal. When initially meeting someone, its best to stray away from taboo questions: stray away from asking what religion they are, asking what they think of the latest presidential candidate, asking if they are PMSing. Find a Commonality Even if youre at a party with a room full of strangers, you have a commonality: you are all at the same party for a reason. Perhaps you are all friends with the host, or perhaps you are work in the same field, whatever the commonality is, its yours for the finding. Commonalities are often the basis of relationships, and conversations. When speaking to someone, try to find the commonality the two of you have. Ask them how they know the person throwing the party or what it is their job entails. Once a commonality is established, other conversation tends to easily flow. Take it Easy on the Drinks A party is definitely a time to eat, drink, and be merry. But, you dont want to drink so much that you make a fool out of yourself. Having a glass of wine or two is definitely a good way to calm your nerves, perhaps making it easier to be social towards those you dont know. But, if you dont draw the line, you may end up being known as that girl or that guy; you know the type, the type that cant hold their alcohol and ends up the talk of the party for all the wrong reasons. Drink moderately, instead of excessively. No matter what anyone says, wearing a lamp shade over your head is no longer fashionable. Its so 1980s. Offer Assistance Everyone appreciates a helping hand. If you find yourself feeling a little out of place, find a way to offer assistance to someone. This can be anything from offering to set out the punch bowl to gathering used plates. Another way you can offer assistance is by using your own experiences to make suggestions to others. For example, if you overhear a conversation where someone is complaining about back problems, you might advise them to get a new mattress. Knowing that youve been in a similar situation, with back problems of the past, and knowing that a natural latex mattress relieved you of these problems, you might suggest they also try a natural latex mattress. You can then go on to relay pertinent information, saying that because of the support they offer, pressure points dont build up, and sleep is overall more comfortable. The person to whom youre speaking might not leave the party right away to go buy a natural latex mattress, but theyll likely take your advice to heart, and they will be grateful for your suggestion. Working a room can be uncomfortable, particularly when that room is full of strange faces. But, keep in mind that youre probably not the only one who feels out of place; theres bound to be others who dont know anyone. Everyone is somewhat uncomfortable at a party; attending a party is similar to being on the dance floor: everyone is a little insecure about their moves. But, by using the above tips, you may find that a party where you know no one turns into a party where you know almost everyone. Jennifer Jordan is a senior editor for http://www.foamsource.com. Life isn’t ‘Sex and the City’

By Terry Hernon MacDonald A couple of weeks ago, I watched a Sex and the City episode, in which Charlotte, in her never-ending quest to find true love, attends a seminar to teach her how to do just that. She drags Carrie along, who scoffs at the whole thing. She thinks both the women who got sucked into attending and the seminar leader are sad and ridiculous. To attract the right men, the crowd is counseled to use affirmations, which Carrie finds preposterous. These suckers actually think they’re going to meet guys by reciting a string of useless words! During the presentation, Charlotte raises her hand to ask the leader a question. She says something like, “I’ve been using my affirmations, but I still haven’t found the right one.” Slightly annoyed, the leader says, you have to get out there, you have to love yourself, and so on. Carrie grabs the mic from Charlotte and insists, “She is out there.” The leader says something, but Carrie drowns her out, “She is out there.” As far as Carrie’s concerned, the seminar is a scam. There are probably no decent men left on the planet. The good ones are married, and the rest have issues. Now, I enjoy watching Sex and the City. It’s fun. It’s light. It takes my mind off more serious things. But it is not real life! Carrie may discount the power of affirmations, but I didn’t. If you aim to attract a wonderful man, you shouldn’t, either. They work. Even better, they’re free. Indeed, they are one of the most important methods I used to attract the right man for me(who I’ve been happily married to for almost 13 years). After years of dating losers, schmoozers, and No-Show Joes, I attracted a loyal, loving, reliable, successful, fun man by using affirmations. If you want to attract a man who is worthy of you, who will add to your happiness, then decide what qualities you want in a man and write an affirmation in the present tense: I am happily married to (or in a relationship with) a ____, ____, _____, ______ man. Write it ten times a day. Recite it in the shower. Repeat it to yourself as you’re falling asleep at night. Give it time. You could start attracting better men within weeks. If you’ve been hurt or have trouble trusting men, it will take more time. But keep it up. Keep it to yourself. You’ll find out that it’s worth it. By all means, keep watching Sex and the City. Just remember that it’s fiction. Few people, men or women, actually behave like its characters in Manhattan or anywhere else. Jet Lag Pills – Panacea or Placebo Effect?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Donald_Saunders] Donald Saunders We live in an age that demands an instant cure for every conceivable ailment under the sun and so it’s no surprise that jet lag has joined the band of conditions for which there is the promise of a cure in the form of a pill. But can a pill really provide the panacea to jet lag, or are the results of taking such pills nothing more than imagined. Jet lag is a common sleep disorder that just about any long-haul air traveler will be familiar with. It is caused by the body’s inability to reset its internal clock quickly enough to bring it into line with local time when arriving at your destination. For example, consider flying from London to Singapore. You arrive at eight o’clock in the morning local time to start a busy day of meetings or sightseeing. Your internal clock, however, is still set on London time of two o’clock in the morning and is telling you that you should be in bed and fast asleep. Whatever method you use for either preventing or curing jet lag, and there are many different ways of doing this, the end result must be a realignment of your own body clock to that of local time, if the symptoms of jet lag are to disappear. So can this be achieved with a simple pill? One of the most widely used pills available today is a homeopathic preparation containing such things as extracts from the chamomile plant and a common form of daisy. Now while homeopathic remedies have a long and well established history, and while chamomile itself is known for its properties in assisting sleep, it seems more than a little far fetched to suggest that taking a pill before you take off will fast forward your body clock some six hours during the course of your flight from London to Singapore. So why do so many people swear by such pills? There are probably four reasons: First, we are conditioned to believe that the advance of science is such that doctors can cure just about anything today and so why shouldn’t we believe in a pill to cure jet lag. Second, different drug trials have demonstrated time and time again the power of the “placebo effect”. In other words, the mere fact that something is being done to combat a condition can in itself produce the felling that it works. Third, jet lag doesnt always kick in straight away. Were all familiar with the fact that a few late nights doesnt always effect us straight away and that it may be two or three days before our late nights catch up with us. Because many travelers also feel fine for their first couple of days they assume that the pills must have worked. When jet lag does catch up with them, they then often wrongly attribute their symptoms to the change in climate or something they’ve eaten. Fourth, the sale of pills, of any description, is big businesses supported by big advertising budgets and clever marketing. This marketing extends to jet lag pills and is even supported by studies which clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of such pills. The only problem here is that many of the studies quoted are fundamentally flawed and lack any detail. Most studies, for example, involve airline crews, in particular cabin staff, who are hardly representative of the bulk of the traveling public and might well be thought to have a vested interest in promoting air travel. It would be lovely if we could just take a pill when we board the aircraft and arrive at our destination with no jet lag. Unfortunately, at least for now, this simply isnt possible. Preventing jet lag, or at least reducing jet lag symptoms considerably, is not difficult and involves a little bit of planning in advance of your trip and following a careful, but simple, plan before, during and after your flight. The one thing is doesn’t involve is a so-called magic jet lag pill. Phone Patriotism

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Philip_Nicosia]Philip Nicosia Feeling patriotic? Download your countrys National Anthem into your phone and announce your pride every time somebody calls. Theres a growing trend towards ethnic pride, triggered somewhat by the fact that the world has become one big global village. Everything is starting to look homogenouscities start to look the same, and its not unusual to find a mini-United Nations crowded into a subway. Its all great to be part of one big world, but at some point, people start looking for their roots. The trend can be seen in the popularity of cultural awareness clubs and classes in universities, as second-generation immigrants actively search for their sense of history. Others are taking tours of their homeland, visiting ancestors home towns and retracing family trees. Even the scrapbooking craze, the biggest hobby to sweep across Northern America, is a reflection of peoples desire to capture and preserve something unique about their history. National anthem ringtones is part of this worldwide trend towards going back to ones roots. It is a way of saying, This is who I am. This is where Im from. This is what I stand for, and what I believe in. For those whose countries are torn by civil war or political conflict, it is a way of reaffirming their hope that the values that their people stand for will somehow survive the war that is ravaging their land. Others like playing it when country pride is at its peakduring world sports events like the Olympics or World Cup. While national anthem ringtones may not have the foot-tapping, booty-swayin effect of the latest R&B hits, they do have their own unique and special effect on all who hear it. Those who recognize itperhaps being from that country themselveswill smile. Those who dont will probably be prompted to ask what it is. Then it becomes an opportunity to share your pride, and talk about your country. Then it becomes a bridge towards understanding and respect, as well as a healthy curiosity for cultures outside of their ownand isnt that what a global village is really about? Most of the national anthems have already been converted into ring tones. Some are available in polyphonic form, others are already available as true tones. While its not the same as actually hearing it played on your own soil, it is a way of bringing a bit of your country with you every where you go. Finding a Job as a CNC Machinist – What the Career has to Offer, and is It Safe from Outsourcing?

By Nick Leonard CNC machining is a job sits comfortably atop the hierarchy of manufacturing jobs. A skilled machinist can command a very good salary in fact $60,000 a year or more is not uncommon. As a CNC machinist your job will also be more secure and safe from outsourcing. This is due to the level of skill required to be successful and while simple tasks such as assembly are being outsourced a rapid rate. This is not to say that outsourcing will have no effect in the machineing field, or that your job will never be outsourced because any job white or blue-collar is facing the outsourcing pinch. Finding a job as a CNC machinist shouldn’t be too hard. Most manufacturing companies have machining departments and there are many shops that specialize in just CNC. Landing one of these jobs will be much easier if you have some machining experience, or if you have a degree from a technical college. If you don’t have a degree from a technical college or any experience I’ll tell you a little trick that will allow you to sneak in the back door, and land that CNC job and even beat out more qualified candidates. You’re going to want to research perspective companies and find the pay scale for their CNC positions. Once you got a list of prospective companies go apply for an entry-level position at that company. Punch press, sweeping what ever just get in the door. How will this help you get a CNC job? 90 percent of all manufacturing companies promote from within. They’ll give current employees preferential treatment before hiring an outsider even if the current employee is lacking experience for the open position. Keys to getting promoted in a to a CNC operator position: You’ll need a strong work ethic. Perform well on the job. Have a good attitude. Show a willingness to learn and make it known that you want to learn about CNC machines. And most important be dependable. that means always show up on time, and always volunteered to work overtime if it’s available. Note these tips for getting ahead only apply to non-union jobs because they promote people based on performance where most union jobs only look at seniority. As a trained as CNC machinist you will never have to worry about job security that is not to say you’ll never get laid off, but if you do you need only send out your resume to prospective employers or place it online listing your qualifications and you’ll be getting a job offers in no time. CNC machining can be a rewarding and lucrative career. The author has been involved in the manufacturing field for over10 years and specializes in CNC and Swiss CNC machining Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Nick_Leonard http://EzineArticles.com/?Finding-a-Job-as-a-CNC-Machinist—What-the-Career-has-to-Offer,-and-is-It-Safe-from-Outsourcing?&id=87258 payday candy bar unsecured loans bad credit car loan albany cash loans now

Organizing Your Family Tree Photographs

By Mary Kaye McCauley-Stiff Most family tree software now enables you to link your data to digital photographs. Its much more rewarding to view the family tree data when there are faces linked to the names (even if those people tended not to smile for picture-taking). But keeping track of all those family tree photographs requires a different organization method than what you use for your present-day photographs. Once you scan a photo, save it into two folders: JPEG PHOTOS BY SURNAME JPEG PHOTOS OF FAMILY JPEG PHOTOS OF SURNAME This folder contains sub-folders that are labeled by surname. For example: Cornwell Dunn McNally Modesto This makes it easy to find all the family members with a particular surname. JPEG PHOTOS BY FAMILY No sub-folders for this one. All of the photographs are loose, which makes it easier to view them as thumbnails and to link to them from your family tree software program. All of the photographs are listed with the following naming method: If the picture is of an individual, label it: [Last Name, First Name, Born Year, Theme/Event] For example: [Dunn John E born 1875 Obituary] Note: Having the birth year or some other notation helps when you have 5 people named John Dunn in the family. If the photo is of a cemetery marker, the name of the cemetery is listed first. For example: [St Patrick Cath Cem Maple Grove Dunn John b 1875 oss Modesto Elizabeth b 1886] Note: The abbreviation oss means “on the same stone.” This makes it easy to pull up which of the relatives are all buried in a particular cemetery. You would also create a copy of the photograph and name it for the wife under her maiden name: For example: [St Patrick Cath Cem Maple Grove Modesto Elizabeth b 1886 oss Dunn John b 1875] If you are a very thorough person, you can also use the properties feature of the file (right-click on the file in Explorer and select the Properties command) to summarize who is in the picture. Note: For sequences of photos, label the last part of each photo with ’1 of 5′, ’2 of 5′, etc. to keep them together. If youre uncertain how to label a photograph that doesnt include people (such as a farmhouse), use the name of the person you have a blood relationship with. For example: [Modesto Elizabeth C Dunn John farm aerial view 1 of 5] [Modesto Elizabeth C Dunn John farm aerial view 2 of 5] Tip 1: If youre on a quest to have headstone photos of your ancestors, copy the filenames into a word-processing document. Bring it with you on field trips. That way you can quickly check to see if you have a cemetery marker photo or not. Tip 2: To label photographs of women whose maiden name is unknown, use the following naming method: [Cornwell, Margaret Mrs. Michael b1799 d1870] This helps you see right away which women are missing a maiden name. Also, if the name is a common one, identifying the husbands first name helps keep them all straight. No doubt youll want to tweak this method to find something that works for you and your family names. But whatever you do, dont forget to back up your photographs! Home Loans For First Time Buyers With Bad Credit

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder First time home buyers with bad credit have a lot of options when it comes to financing their purchase. You dont need to worry about getting approved, since almost all applications are accepted today. Instead, you should focus on getting the best rates and fees on your home loan. Get Your Credit In Order Before you start home loan shopping, make sure your credit is in order. Even with poor credit, you should check for any errors in your credit report. You can also include a letter explaining the circumstances around a late payment or bankruptcy. Some lenders will adjust your credit score and rate if the information can be verified. You may also want to request your credit score to see where you stand. A score of 600 or higher will get you accepted by most conventional lenders. You can pay to get your score with a reporting agency or receive it free as part of an introductory offer with a credit monitoring service. Think About Down Payment And Your Budget Down payments can also improve your rates. For the lowest rates, put down 20% or more.
